How to make pumpkin puree

Pumpkin puree can be used in sweet recipes and savoury recipes alike.

Any squash can be used to make a pumpkin puree because the taste is very similar, Chef uses a butternut squash to make this pumpkin puree recipe, you can use pumpkin.

Pumpkin puree can be used in pies, tarts, cookies, cakes and breads and even as a curry base especially for korma's or coconut curries that have a sweet taste.

Squash vegetables are high in Vitamin C, Vitamin B6 and numerous other vitamins.


There is only one ingredient for this pumpkin puree recipe, it is then up to you how you cook with it.




Ingredients for pumpkin puree

1 Pumpkin or Butternut squash



How to make pumpkin puree

Peel and de-seed the squash. Chop into chunks and place into a steamer.



Steam the squash for approximately 15 minutes or until the squash is soft and a fork will slide into the squash easily.



Let the squash cool slightly.

Place the squash into a blender and blend until it forms a smooth pumpkin puree.



Chefs squash produced 800ml of butternut squash puree.




Use the squash for baking or savoury dishes. Keep covered in the fridge. Enjoy Chefs pumpkin puree recipe.

This was super useful. I always end up getting puree from the grocery. I will carve another pumpkin and then maybe use some of the left overs to do the puree!
