Easy Bean Burger Recipe

This bean burger recipe is simple, quick and deliciously healthy!

It could be a scrumptious snack or a mouth watering meal!

With few ingredients and easy cooking method this is a good recipe to make when you want a quick hunger fix.

I serve it with my Green Pepper Relish Recipe which you can have as a side dish or a topped onto a sandwich. Eat my bean burger recipe on their own, in a sandwich or however you like.

We love these healthy bean burgers, why not try this tasty healthy recipe yourself?

Ingredients
1 300g Tin Black Eyed Peas
2 Small Onions (finely diced small)
1/4 tsp Turmeric
1/4 tsp Cumin
1/2 tsp Coriander
1 Large Garlic Clove (crushed, chopped)
Olive Oil
Salt and Pepper

Getting Started.....

Rinse your beans in some cold water then gently warm them up in a little pan and put to the side. Don't boil them you just want the warmth to soften them up.

In a little frying pan fry your onions on a medium /high heat until they start to go transparent and golden. Add all 3 of your spices and stir well for for a minute then add your garlic and turn down the heat a little (you don't want to burn your spices and garlic), cook for a few more minutes stiring often.

Turn off your heat then place your onion mixture into a mixing bowl. Add your beans with a little salt and pepper (optional) stir well.

Now pour it into your blender and mix.

Place back into your bowl and roll into a ball. Divide into four and shape them into burgers.

Heat up your little pan again drizzle with a little oil and cook for a few minutes on each side until they turn golden brown.

Now your bean burgers are ready to eat.

We ate ours with some of my Cooked Green Peppers Relish and it was so delicious.

I made this today and it was really tasty...I did however use my food processor and I think I made it too mushy, almost like a pate' which actually gave me more ideas about how to use it...next time though I will try it in the regular blender like it said...

Unbelievably delicious, and you can do so much with this as a base for a meal!! I put mine in a half-pita with burger toppings, and served with a side dish of salted, roasted veggies. Burger and fries, healthy style! Thanks--will be recommending your blog!

Hi, i've tried making this and it has come out delicious but i have a problem with it, it didnt look like a burger, when i mixed it in the blender it didn't come out looking like a dough, it was sticky and when i fried it, it was soft and kept breaking apart, can u tell me what im doing wrong? Is it the blender? What sort of blender should i use?

Thanks

Hi Amina,

When you blend click the button for a second at a time so that it blends the mixture little by little into a dough type mixture. You could be blending it too much and too fast.

Also you could try using a mashing and mashing the bean mixture.

I hope this helps.

Wow! My family loved the black eyed pea burgers I made using your recipe. I also made the relish to go along with it, but used sweet potato instead of white potato (I use what is on hand when possible). It was a winner too. Thanks for sharing your recipes with the world. I cannot wait to try another of your recipes.
