There are various ways to caramelize onions.
Some people use sugar to caramelize onions and others do not use sugar, also vinegar is used in some recipes but not in others.
To make my caramelized onions recipe I use a little of both sugar and vinegar to help give the onions a sweet and delicious flavour.
It is really easy to make my caramelized onions; they go perfect with my caramelized onion hummus recipe and so much more.
Ingredients for Jeenas Kitchen Caramelised Onions Recipe
2 Onions (diced)
2 Tbsp Light Brown Sugar
2 Tbs White Wine Vinegar
Drizzle Rapeseed Oil
How to Make Jeenas Kitchen Caramelized Onions Recipe
On a medium heat cook onion for a few minutes.
Turn the heat right down and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Stir occasionally.
Stir occasionally.
Add the sugar and simmer for a 4-5 minutes, stir well.
Add the vinegar and 1/2 tablespoon sugar.
Simmer for another 5 minutes stiring frequently.
Simmer for another 5 minutes stiring frequently.
Take off the heat and used in desired recipe.

These onions are outstanding! I love your step by step photos; they really teach how to proceed with a recipe.. This is a great recipe for caramelizing onions, and it's different than what I've seen before with the addtion of brown sugar (yum!) and Wine Vinegar. I'm definitely going to try this.

I love just about anything with caramelized onions in it and this looks delicious. I think it would be a perfect appetizer. I love the progression of photos showing the browning of the onions...I could almost smell them!
