Vegan pizza recipe

Dairy free vegan pizza recipe

A vegan pizza recipe does not just have to be about trying to mimic cheese, if you use certain ingredients a pizza can taste fantastic even without using cheese.

This does not mean using multiple herbs and spices and different vegeables but just a simple combination of ingredients, if chosen right these ingredients can taste fabulous vegan or not.

Chef uses the wonderful combination of smoked tofu and mushrooms along side the basic tomato sauce and garlic.

Some smoked tofu tastes so good that it could almost be a smoky sausage but without all of the saturated fat. Tofu is high in protein, low in fat, has zero cholesterol and of course tastes great alongside the humble mushroom.

This is an easy recipe to bake as Chef uses a simple basic brown bread recipe to use as the base of the vegan pizza.

Ingredients for vegan pizza

Chefs Brown bread recipe
3 Large Tbsp Tomato puee
4-5 Tbsp water
1 tsp Garlic puree
Pinch dried basil
Pinch dried parsely
Pinch salt (optional)
Smoked tofu
Mushrooms (sliced)
Rice bran oil

How to make a vegan pizza

Mix together the tomato puree, garlic and herbs.

After the brown bread has been left to rise and doubled in size in the bowl take a small peice and knead gently for a minute.

Dust flour on the work top and roll the dough into a flat round shape.

Place onto an oven tray with holes. Spread with the tomato mixture.

Cut the smoked tofu into slices and chop into small chunks.
Place tofu on top of the tomato.

Top with mushrooms.

Take a small dish and pour in 1-2 tablespoons of oil.

Mix into the oil 1/2 teaspoon of garlic paste.

Gently drizzle the pizza with the garlic oil, this is optional.

Add a pinch of herbs and/or salt on top if desired.

Place into a hot oven at gas mark 8 for 15-20 minutes or until the pizza has gone slightly golden on the edges and the toppings looked cooked.

Remove off the tray and place straight onto a wire rack.

Serve warm or cold.
