Spiced Wholewheat Biscuits

I made these lovely biscuits today and they tasted wonderful. They are not too sweet nor too savoury either, just delicious!

3 Tbsp dark molasses sugar
approx 100 g soft butter
5 Tbsp wholewheat flour
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 nutmeg
1/4 coriander
pinch ground cloves
1/2 tsp bicarb soda

First put your butter and molasses sugar into a bowl.

Mix well.

Now sieve all your dry ingredients into your bowl with your honey. Keep the left over wheat bits to the side you will use them soon.

Mix well.

Add your left over wheat bits from your sieve and mix again.

You should be left with a pastry type dough.

Now roll your mix into a sausage shape on a sheet of plastic wrap.

Roll it up into your plastic wrap and twist the sides.

Once it is firm slice into biscuits with a sharp knife.

Place onto a greased and floured baking tray and cook on 180C for approx 10 minutes or until golden and cooked. (you may need to keep checking them because they are already dark in colour it is easy to leave them in too long.)

Once cooked cool on a wire rack to harden.

Enjoy your spiced biscuits.

oh i have a question!i have molasses, the liquid type only! will that be ok? thanks in advance:)

Chef Jeena said...

Hiya Meera :)
I'm not sure if the liquid molasses will work with this recipe....but it is worth giving it a try - your could adapt the measurements to your own recipe :) It might turn out even better! I think using normal dark brown sugar would be OK if you liked.

Thank you for visiting our Chicken Recipes blog. I love the way you use pictures throughout the cooking process to show the details of what you are doing.

With the whole wheat and molasses, I wonderif this would be a good diabetic recipe. Do you have carb counts and things like that?

the Step by step pics, make it so easy for me. Lovely recipe. Molasses sugar is brown sugar right? nice recipe.

Chef Jeena said...

Hey Sharmi, thanks for stopping by :) Yes molasses sugar is dark brown sugar - I think it is a little darker than than normal dark sugar more like a treacle sugar but I think using dark brown sugar will still be the same, hope this helps :)
