1 Tbsp Dairy free margarine

How to make a dairy free cake frosting

Sieve the powdered sugar into a mixing bowl .

Add all other ingredients.

Mix very well adding half a tablespoon at a time until it becomes a thick and creamy paste.

If the mixture is too dry add a little water, if the mixture is too wet add a little sieved powdered sugar.

Always make sure that when more water is added that very little amounts are used at a time or else the frosting will not spread well or set.

  7. Is this icing thick enough to be able to decorate with? Like making the icing flowers and such? I like to add natural coloring to my white icing and decorate my cakes with it.

  8. The vegan white cake frosting recipe is not for the cake decorating that you want.

For making flowers you need to use royal icing which is used in sugar crafting.

  9. I just made this recipe using Spectrum shortening for the margarine substitute and using GF Alcohol free Vanilla flavor including the other ingredients but my frosting came out a creamy beige color not crisp white like yours. How can I get it white? I decided to add Vitamin C crystals to it since it was already a different color..yummy, now it has an orange flavor, too.

  10. how do you substitute powder sugar with something healthier?

  11. Hi Mikey,

You could always dust the cake with powdered sugar instead of a thick white icing.

Another option is xylitol ground to a powder in a coffee grinder.

  12. Is there a way to make frostin/icing without margarine? I need one very badly.

  13. Hi Maia,

Shortening can be used instead of margarine.

If not you can make an icing by using water and powdered sugar with no other ingredients. It will not be a real frosting but sometimes a basic icing is very delicious.

Make sure you sieve the powdered sugar to remove any lumps and keep adding water until it reaches the consistency that you desire.
